Karacha has been selling oboe reeds for several years, we work closely with one of the most respected reed workshops in the world, with over 50 years experience in the reed making business.

We understand that oboe reeds need to be excellent quality while remaining excellent value. The oboe and bassoon are sometimes seen as expensive instruments to run and therefore unfortunately the uptake is somewhat slower than it would be with other woodwind instruments.  At karacha we are doing all we can to promote the uptake of the oboe and bassoon, as a retailer the first thing we can do is to strive to make our prices as economical as possible, you will see our range of oboe reeds starting from as little as £4.99, we also have a synthetic option, ideal for practice and not easily broken as cane reeds often are. The new selection of Carmichael oboes which have already received teacher acclaim will also help to promote uptake o f the oboe in the next school year.

Rico Style American Scrape Oboe Reed – For several  years the Elite American scrape oboe reed was our best selling oboe reed within the UK, we found that students generally either bought rico oboe reeds or the elite American scrape oboe reeds. In 2007 rico stopped making oboe reeds and many thousands of students worldwide were left looking for a new brand, at this point we adjusted our American scrape oboe reed by adding a wire, this makes it nearly identical to the reed sold under the rico brand. The longer tip and the striking similarity now means this reed is our best seller across the board, Karacha also sells this reed it dozens of music shops around the world. Elite Traditional Oboe Reed – This reed is the most popular reed our workshop crafts, it is one of he most popular reeds in USA and is a favourite of student oboists. Some UK students do find it a little shorter than other UK reeds they are used to and if you think this might be an issue for you we would suggest our “Rico Style – American Scrape Oboe Reed”

Elite Synthetic Oboe Reed – The Elite synthetic oboe reed is every parents dream come true. If your daughter catches the cane in her hair or your son has a tendency to break the reeds, the elite synthetic oboe reed is the answer , although ideally suited for practice and not performance this reed allows children to practice at home without the constant worry of breaking expensive cane reeds.

Elite Artise Oboe Reed – Artiste oboe reeds are the reeds we sell to higher end students and many adult players, a nice reed with excellent response.
