I thought I would start this week with a bit of sci-fi because if anyone has seen the film He-Man they will know that there is a device called the universal star key (I think) with keys and buttons all over it and that's just how my sax looks!! Still it's blue, just like my Honda Civic and I am pleased to confirm that a week since it arrived I am in love with it!
I have just watched the first part of an instructional DVD that showed me how to put it together properly - I maybe should have done this last week but I'm a man, we don't do instructions! I have learnt that I need to love and cherish my saxophone so I feel that I ought to give it a name - I'll call it Saxy I think!
I have been practicing all week and am a tad concerned that I am still sounding a bit like a distressed duck! I now know (through the Karacha DVD) that I can alter the pitch by moving the wire up or down the mouthpiece - this will need come practice!
Ok, so looking at my how to learn the sax book I have just realised that I now need to learn to read music - this has suddenly got a lot harder! 3 days later and I am definitely getting better at reading music and I am pleased to confirm that I can now play Mary had a little lamb - I am sooooo cool!. Next week, it's Baker Street people, I'm definitely on a roll now!!
